Home Affordable Foreclosures Alternative Program (HAFA)

The Treasury Department has released guidelines and forms for its new Home Affordable Forclosures Alternative Program (HAFA).  This program applies to loans not owned or guaranteed  by Fannie May or Freddie Mac, which will issue their own versions in the coming weeks.  Features that will greatly impact a home owner for the better are: pre-approving sales terms before listing a property, and releasing borrowers from future liability for the unpaid portion of the first mortgage debt.  This is a complex program, with 43 pages of forms and guidelines, so for obvious reasons I have only highlighted 2 of the key features of the program.  Contact me for more information or click here to read more.

$8,000 First-Time Homebuyers' Tax Credit

Senate leaders have reached a deal to extend the First-Time Homebuyer's Tax Credit to April 30, 2010.  The original credit is set to expire the last day of November, 2009.  In addition, there is now a $6,500 credit for some current homeowners who purchase a home by 4/30/2010.  Contact me for more information and we can start looking for your new home right away!
